#BOOS: Terug naar je eige land

In this documentary, Tim Hofman follows five out of the four hundred children of refugees who qualify for a child pardon in the Netherlands. These children were either born in the Netherlands or have been living here for more than five years. However, according to the government, they must return to their 'own country,' which are countries they don't know because they were often not born there and have never been there before. In the documentary, Tim shows the impact of this uncertainty on the children and visits politicians to ask why these children cannot stay here.

After the documentary aired, BNNVARA launched a petition that was signed more than 250,000 times. This overwhelming support led to the Dutch government granting amnesty to more than 500 children and their families.
